The Curse of the Color-blind Companion

I need a second opinion and my husband is no help. I bought new pillows for our family room. Do you think they go together okay?
I want an honest opinion -- and I won't be offended if you tell me no.

Corner Bakery Cafe!

It's finally here! My father-in-law's store officially opens tomorrow (January 25). It's something the entire family--and many others-- have been waiting for for so long. Please go see! I hear it's wonderful.

Corner Bakery. On Foothill Drive, just south of the VA.

These are pictures I took while we were visiting over Christmas, before the place was completely finished. But even then, it looked amazing!

Ron, hard at work, even when the rest of us are playing.

So this is actually in the bathroom. But I really loved this glass tile.
(You should definitely go check it out.)

The menu. Yum.

The ladder and boxes will no longer be there when you go eat.

Yay! We're so excited -- even if we're not there to test it out.

We Love Visitors!

Ryan and Diana came for a short visit. It was wonderful!

The kids loved them.

Can you see the family resemblance?

One

She turned one today. Was that really a year ago?
Dallin and I spent the last week being sentimental thinking, "This time last year. . ."

This is what we woke up to -- two feet of snow over night.
They almost canceled church.

The Birthday Girl.
Beth was very generous and let Lizzy borrow her birthday tiara.

She was so excited for presents. Still in practice from Christmas.

Beth made Lizzy a special card and helped me to translate it.

New toys.

Lizzy loves playing with her cousins, but I don't think she would have minded having her toys to herself.
Lizzy and Sam took turns pushing each other away.

The birthday candle.
We've spent time teaching her to blow it out.
It didn't work.

And now the cake pictures. You knew they were coming.

Happy Birthday Eliza!

P.S. To my sisters. She loves the doll. Thank you!

Christmas Vacation

We had such a great time in Salt Lake that we extended our trip a couple days. But we're home now -- it's cold and snowy -- and Dallin's already into homework.
Welcome home.

Here's a brief review of our vacation.

Enjoying bananas with Grandpa.

Visiting beautifully pregnant friends.

Playing.

More playing.

Getting pictures taken.

Slobbering with cousins.

Figuring out what my new lens will really do.
Awesome.

More spending time with family.

Watching very original Christmas presents be opened.
(It's a garden fixture.)

Tinkering with toys.

Discovering more no-no-no's.

Dressing up.

Visiting Temple Square.
